Intermountain Gets Two New Brush Trucks
September 23rd,
2005 - Several of the Intermountain staff took a road trip to Redding,
California and picked up our new (slightly used) brush trucks. These rigs
are in great working order and we are now looking for funding to outfit them
with tools, hose and white paint to match the rest of our apparatus. We
hope to have these rigs in service soon! (see the before and after
pictures below)

Intermountain Works First Aid Booth for Team Penning
September 10th and 11th,
2005 - The Intermountain staff was pleased to fully staff a First Aid booth for
Ramona's Team Penning Rodeo event. We are happy to report our first aid
skills were never needed and all two legged and four legged participants went
home safely.

3rd Intermountain Fire Academy Starts
September 8th,
2005 - 17 new Candidate Fire Fighters start the 3rd Intermountain Fire Academy.
For these new recruits 9 months and over 250 hours of instruction await them.
Intermountain would like to welcome our new Candidate Fire Fighters. If

Firefighters Receive Fire Control 3 Training
On Sunday August 7th, 2005 11 of Intermountain's firefighters participated in a
set of fantastic training drills. We were able to practice different types
of fire attacks during several interior live fire exercises that lasted most of
the day. Many thanks go out to Captain Edrozo and Naval Training Center,

Intermountain Provides First Aid Station at 2005 Ramona Fair
The Intermountain
volunteers staffed a First Aid station everyday of the 2005 Ramona Fair.
Other than some minor scrapes and a sprained ankle we are happy to report there
were no major injuries. Thank you to the Ramona Fair staff for
inviting us, and we hope to see you there next year.

Next Intermountain Fire Academy Getting Ready to Begin
After the
graduation of our 2nd Intermountain Fire Academy, the 3rd academy is getting
ready to begin.
Our new 13 graduates are now doing station shifts and we are holding Physical
Agility and Interviews for our newest candidates. The 3rd Academy is
scheduled to start in September 2005 and will be more than 9 months long.
The application process for this years academy is now closed, but we are
accepting applications for next years academy.

The Intermountain Fire and Rescue
Department would again like to thank
Barona, Viejas and
Sycuan casino's for a $90,000 grant to expand our new Station 95 with more bays
to house our apparatus. Thank You Again!

2005 First Annual Fund Raising Auction
Our first annual fund raising auction and dinner was a great success.
We had a great turn out from the community and raised $28,000 of very needed
funds to keep our Department functioning. The auction and dinner was
attended by more than 250 people. Some of the items auctioned included a
dinner for 10 at the new Station 95, Rolling Stone Tickets, Trips, and a ride in
a Fighter Jet. Thank you to everyone who helped us make this event so
successful and we hope to see you next year! You can read more in the

New Station 95 is now Open!
After almost 11
years of work our new Station 95 is now open.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who helped us have a new home.

2005 Forth of July First Aid Station
Intermountain Fire and Rescue were happy
to provide a first aid station at Ramona's 2005 4th of July Fire Works.
The event was uneventful from a first aid perspective, but the Intermountain
firefighters who judged the kids watermelon eating contest reported a lot of
sticky faces!

2005 Ramona Rodeo First Aid Station
Intermountain Fire and Rescue personnel
were proud to run the First Aid station at this years Ramona Rodeo. We
treated a minor cut, blisters, some skinned knuckles and elbows and a strained
ankle. Thank you to the Rodeo Committee for allowing us to attend,
we hope to be there next year.

Intermountain Participates in
County Wide Training
5/21/05 - Intermountain Fire and Rescue
personnel joined fire fighters from all over San Diego county for a full day of
training together. This joint training included wild land hose lays,
communications, safety, and structure protection.

2005 Academy Gets Wild Land
Training
In anticipation of this years fire
season the current Intermountain academy students have been focused on wild land
fire training. The open fields behind our new station have been
great training grounds for pulling hose and line cutting practices.
This academy is scheduled to graduate June 25th at the grand opening of our new
station.

Intermountain Firefighters Train Hard at Chevron
Intermountain and San Pasqual Firefighters train side by side at the Chevron Oil
Refinery in El Segundo. The joint training was conducted on Nov. 13th,
2004. The training was the first step towards regular joint training to
strengthen our working relationship.

13 new recruits graduate Intermountain Fire Academy
On
Saturday Aug 28th 2004 in a packed barn at the Mountain Valley Ranch 13
Intermountain Fire Recruits graduated from Intermountain's first California
State Fire Marshall certified Fire Academy. The recruits started the
academy in late June finishing just last week. Completing phase one of their
training which is 220 hours of academy training. The rest of the 220 hours will
be held during in service training at the station.

Thank you Barona and Sycuan!
$111,772.25 in funding for the Intermountain Volunteer Fire and Rescue fire
station project was received from Barona and Sycuan Bands' casino revenue
sharing agreements with the State of California (IGSDF)

Intermountain Fire & Rescue helps curb fire running on Rancho Santa Teresa
Intermountain's Engine 95 and Chief 95 as well as CDF, USFS and other
local departments battled a brush fire that started on Camino Vista off Old
Julian Hwy at approx 11am on Friday Aug 6th. The fire made a run on Rancho Santa
Teresa on the back side off Sunshine Valley Rd. & Okana. Crews from
Intermountain worked diligently and effectively performing structural
protection for houses at the bottom of Sunshine Valley. Intermountain crews
also performed hose operations and water supply. The valiant efforts of
our crew played an instrumental role in stopping the fire before reaching Okana. Click

Intermountain Receives $6,000 SAFE Grant
The grant was written for funds to update current communications equipment.
The Cedar Fire
The Intermountain Fire and Rescue Department was very involved in fighting the
disastrous Cedar Fire. Their tireless and heroic efforts resulted in saving
several homes in the backcountry area around Santa Ysabel. Our crews were
dispatched to several different areas during the course of the fire. The
Intermountain Volunteer Fire and Rescue Board of Directors passed a resolution
during the last board meeting to honor those firefighters involved with a
Distinguished Service Award.
